Great addition to Dell mini

The Dell Inspiron mini does not include a disk drive and I was in need of one for school. This one was fairly cheap and does what I need it to do for school. I am now able to install CD's on my mini and do not have to worry about downloading the software from the internet or having to make do without the software.

It is very easy to install: just plug the included cord into the disk drive and then plug it into a USB port on the mini and you are good to go because the computer does the rest of the installation via Plug'n'Play.

It is also very easy to use: just plug it in and then open to insert the CD.

It is also very portable because it is small and lightweight.

All in all, it is a great addition to the Dell mini.

I bought this to use CD installations but now most of software CDs are actually DVDs.
I realized this after I bought this.
So check the CDs that you have and buy external DVD, not CD.
In my opinion, recommend to buy external DVD, not this CD drive.

Just Loads!

This Cd-Rom drive is only for loading programming onto a laptop or device that does not have its own Cd-Rom drive build in. It came with a 1 year MFG warranty, which I never had any problems with it to use the warranty. I did however, have different needs that I was unable to fulfill with this device because I have a program that works only with the disc in, which I thought this device would allow me the ability to use the Cd-Rom as an "actual Drive" but it didn't. I have used it to load certain programs onto my laptop, but that is all it will do, I will have to find a different device to use that acts like an actual "drive" without glitches and crashes...If loading programs is all you need, then this device is perfect, but if you need more capabilities like I do, then keep looking..

This USB external cd rom drive is a must have item for the Dell Notebook computer. It just plugs in and it's alive and working. I priced this item around. And could not find a better buy that beat the Amozon.com price. They are about one third the price Best Buy quoted. For a note book computer with no cd rom drive this is there when only when you need it. Would i buy this item again. Yes I would it just makes the Dell Netbook scream.

Good but not what I needed

I can not give a proper review I guess since it doesn't do what I wanted to do but it appears to work just fine. It arrives quickly and in great condition so it was a great buy.
