Charity projects in VN

PLEASE HELP THE UNDER-PRIVILEGED GROUPS IN VIETNAM

Our group in Singapore are acting in our personal capacity to help the
under-privileged groups in South East Asia. Since 1989, more than
US$100,000 worth of educational materials and supporting equipment have
been used for setting up schools in refugee camps or providing relief
supports to charity organizations. This year we would like to seek help
from dentists, agricultural experts, as well as contributors to our
projects in Vietnam.

We are working with Dr Truong Thi Diem Thanh, of International
Odontology Assistance. Since 1993 Dr Thanh, a Vietnamese French,
has trained 17,000 primary school teachers, 550,000 children on the
preventive program, and dentists at 22 rural districts in Vietnam.
	
We are also helping Sister Mai Thi Mau, director of the leprosy camp in
Di Linh, and Sister Elizabeth Le Thi Thanh, director of Phu My orphanage
for the retarded children in Ho Chi Minh City. Farm lands were bought
and given to these medically cured leprotic and mentally retarded
people.
	
We like to appeal to your generous support for the children, and
handicapped farmers. The issues faced are:
   * serious financial problem to continue with Dr Thanh's dental
program,
   * low crop yield due to lack of fertilizer and insecticide, and
   * low productivity due to primitive farming tools (especially for the
fingerless lepers) and insufficient agricultural knowledge.

We will visit the farms in Bao Loc and Di Linh this June, at our
expenses, to deliver the much needed farming equipment and to forward
the contribution to Dr Thanh. As has been done for the last 7 years, we
always mail back the trip report, pictures, and expense report of our
work to all contributors.

Our goal is to raise US$6,000 for these programs. Please send your
contribution for (i) the dental project, (ii) the farming project, or
(iii) both projects to the address below. We will acknowledge upon
receiving your support.
