Thank you for your reply and the fax number.

I'm going on 3 May to Saigon for 2.5 weeks. My department has offered
help in two forms:

1) books, monographs and journals that would be useful to bring back.
For this I need to find out before I go what's needed. I will try to
fax Dr Ha Ba Khiem.

2) future assistance and collaboration. For this I need to find out
when I'm there who's doing what and would like to do what, what's needed
and the scope for future collaboration. I would need to go and talk to
the Vietnamese who work in epidemiology. Please introduce me to the people
you know at the Pasteur Institute. Although I haven't identified a project,
my department's work covers a wide area: trials, overviews, observational 
studies in chronic, infectious diseases, diet, lifestyle and mortality in the 
West and the developing world. Recently we got a prize from the Chinese Academy 
of Science. My head of department if enthusiatic about helping and collaborating 
with Vietnamese scientists.
