Subject: Hotmail -Reply
Hello anh Tuan Pham and all,
Anh Tuan Pham said:
I grew up in a world where sending anonymous messages
and using faked names is simply unacceptable. Except when
there are threats to one's safety or livelihood, which
doesn't apply to the majority of SCV participants.

FN: We're probably confused between faked name and faked accounts. To me,
faked name is ok as long as it has a real account to receive someone's
response. It's unacceptable to send an e-mail without a real returned
address. But a name and names? Who cares.
Anh Tuan Pham also said:
The reasoning behind this rule of ethics is that
anonymity leads to irresponsibility. Just look at
the back of any public toilet door - or SCV :)

FN: This could be true for unreal address case. Messages on public toilet
door never leave real address although sometimes they left real composer's
name :-)

Since it is the accepted and unquestioned practice on SCV
to write anonymous messages, it can't be compared to
Cho+. Ddo^`ng Xua^n, where people are NOT afraid to
admit who they are, except for the pickpockets!

FN: I do not intend to defend for SCV, but people often compare SCV to
fish market. In my opinion, it could be stink but it's not bad. I can
tell majority of people on SCV are not afraid to admit who they are (real
name or faked name), but those who have faked account.
The advantage of having hotmail account is free of charge and easy to get.
And the disadvantage of having hot mail account is easy to get and free :-)
Because of free and easy, people seem not care keeping it. (Easy come,
easy go. That's the philosophy which applies to all aspects of our lives,
isn't it ?) So how are we going to deal with this? My suggestions are:
1. Let people who have hotmail account join the list.
2. Ask them to hold their posting right one month right after joining.
Any violation, they will be banned.
3. Apply more restrictions. For example, apply "one strike you're out"
for hotmail account instead of two for the normal account.
By the way, I really do not understand what you mean by saying this:
"When did the rot set in? Is the attitude above typically
American or only Viet-American?"
Could you please explain a little bit more?
Ignorantly yours,
Frank Nguyen
