McDonald's aims at Vietnam

HO CHI MINH CITY -- McDonald's Corp. will open its first restaurant in
Vietnam in 1998, the Saigon Times Daily reported Monday. It would be the
first U.S. fast-food hamburger restaurant in the country. McDonald's is
planning first to form a joint venture with a Vietnamese company to raise
cows to guarantee a stable supply of beef, the report said. 

Philippine-based fast-food hamburger restaurant Jollibee Food Corp. has
opened an outlet in Ho Chi Minh City, as has AFC Enterprises Inc. of the
U.S., which runs the Churchs Chicken restaurant chain.
