Mental achievement tests--was: intestinal worms
Re: worms
Dear Dr Ladinsky,
Thank you very much for your information.
Is this a test that only Bach Mai Hosp is using? If so, it
might not be suitable.
The trial design involves giving treatment to some schools
and placebo to others and monitor physical and mental development
in the two groups of schools. If we need each school to perform
uncustomary tests a number of times for all of its pupils, it might be costly
and there might be problems in recruitment, compliance and missing data that
complicate analysis. It is simplest and most effective to use tests that
schools are already performing, if these tests are nationally, or at least
regionally standardised.
I hope the forum members who have recent knowledge or experience of
schools in Vietnam can help me with the following info:
1) Do all grades take exams at the end of every year?
2) Which of these exams are nationally standardised? The ones for going
from grade 5 to 6? Tu' ta`i 1? Tu' ta`i 2? Others?
Re: HIV
Dear Dr Ladinsky and anh Tuan,
The HIV project that my siter works in is as follows:
They observe women with HIV and try to identify factors, eg socio-economics,
ethnic, way of life, that might correlate with HIV transmission to their
infants. For example, they identified that breast feeding is high risk.
She would be happy to talk to you about the project and to hear from you
about the work in Vietnam. Her name is Trinh Duong, her email is
tduong@ich.ucl.ac.uk.
