Not the 1945 famine but the 1945 revolution.

And the 1945 revolution had wakened "da^n khi'". Due to the "nga`n na(m
mo^.t thuo+?" chance of a vacuum of power, Viets could achieve their
liberation so easely in Fall '45. The legacy of the 1945 seizure of
power was the self-confidence Viets displayed in the 9 years against the
French.
