Some news about Nguyen Huy Thiep/ Writing Contest in VN

 Writer Nguyen Huy Thiep to visit France and Australia 

At the invitation of the L'Aube (France) publishing house,
writer Nguyen Huy Thiep will leave for Paris on April 21
and will stay there for three weeks to take part in
activities of the publishing house and to pay visits to
some cities such as Lyon and Provence.

After that, the writer will go to Australia for a
four-week visit at the invitation of the three local
universities, Victoria Science and Technology, Monas and
EMIT. This will be the second time Nguyen Huy Thiep has
been invited to go abroad following a month-long trip to
the U.S. in 1996. He is also the only Vietnamese to take
part in these programs.

 Writing contest on Vietnamese countryside

"For the Future of the Vietnamese Countryside" is the name
of a writing contest co-organized by Nong Nghiep Viet Nam
(Vietnam Agriculture) newspaper and the National Steering
Board of Clean Water and Environmental Hygiene. Entries
are expected to feature the environment of rural areas,
environmental pollution, the ecological imbalance of rural
areas and ambitions on the future of Vietnam's rural
areas. The contest is open to all interested. The deadline
is December 31; entries should be sent to the editorial
board of Nong Nghiep Viet Nam newspaper, 14 Ngo Quyen
Street, Hanoi.
