Composer Tran Tien said after the HCMC People's Court issued a verdict on
his copyright lawsuit a week ago that the court's decision has inspired
him to create more musical works.  He noted that the legal action against
Saigon Video Co. Ltd. has caused a positive impact on other musical
composers, many of whom have congratulated him on winning the case. 

Mr. Tien said many composers have encountered copyright violations and
wanted to file legal proceedings. The lawsuit was aimed to favorably
respond to the movement of copyright protection in the world, he stressed.
Concerning an agreement on copyright protection between Vietnam and the
U.S., Mr. Tien said he is waiting it to be the signed.  When the two
countries reach at agreement, he and other composers in the country can
collect copyright fees from overseas Vietnamese singers, Mr. Tien noted.
