Invitation & Instant Noodles
From: Peter Donahoe@RBS on 04/25/97 05:21 PM
I had the pleasure this past weekend of meeting and hosting a member of VNSA how
came to Philadelphia. It was very nice to meet a member of VNSA and greet the
person behind the e-mail address, and I'd like to extend an invitation to any
other members who might be coming to Phila or passing through the Delaware
Valley. Let me know ahead of time and I'll show you around town. And as long
as you're not here for a language test or an interview, I'll introduce you to a
Philadelphia blues bar that serves up some first-rate Dixie/Delta cookin' (if
you think you're up to it!). To that houseguest, I hope you'll come back
another time for a more relaxed visit, one that will allow me to show you the
nicer sides of Philadelphia. It was pure bad luck that the neighborhood
separating my house from your destination is the legendary Badlands of
Philadelphia... There ARE nicer views and scenes to the city, where
Duck-and-Cover driving aren't necessary! ;- )
One of the places we went was a local Viet supermarket that was selling Pho*?
Bo' flavored instant noodles... or so the noodles would have us believe!
Tasted about as much like pho as does macaroni and cheese. They're made in HCMC
under the brand name A-One. They CAN'T be the pho flavored noodles recommended
some time back by a poster in VNSA. If anyone remembers the brand name of the
noodles that were recommended, can you send me that name? These noodles from
A-One aren't bad, but they're not as good as lots of Thai noodles.
Oh, and AnHai... saw your message the other day. Should YOU come to Phila, I
could take you to South Street where all the body piercing salons are. Most
folks there look like they're from the cast of HellRaiser III. Know of one
salon in particular that always seems to be offering specials and discounts...
Think it's called The Rusty Needle, or something. ;- )
