Exams

This course will have two in-class exams that cover the papers we have read and discussed. The exams are closed book and closed notes.

We will devote the lecture before each exam for review.

The exams are tentatively scheduled for the following days:

  • Exam 1 (Friday, Oct 18) Covers overview material, operating system structure, and file and storage systems. Grading of the exam was strict. The maximum score was 206/230 points. The average and median scores were 156 and 163, respectively. A score above 115 is a B; above a 163 is an AB; above 180 is an A.
  • Exam 2 (Friday, Dec 6): Covers entire course material with an emphasis on memory management, process synchronization and scheduling, distributed systems, and recent topics.
