Hi X-ists,

  My opinion is that the source code is given because it is widely accepted
as an industrial standard ( that is why X windows can be considered as 
the biggest IT achievement in the last decades).

  My experience is that in many cases you might need to change the source 
code to customize your applications. ( The Web browser producers certainly
need the source code). Without standardized X windows perhaps we are 
still using the character based searching machines like gopher or QSPIRES.
