Re: (Help) Question of X11R5
Hi Anh Danh,
I thought that MSWindows were developed based also on the x-windows
standard.( More exactly a subset of x-windows). I mean without the
discovery of the X-windows the MSWindows could not have been there.
X-windows were developed by a pure academic interest, no Sun or HP were
involved until they were accepted as industrial standards. The WS producers
only benefited from a free gift.
X-windows based on the client/server model but are not neccessarily
attached to the distributed computing, I think. Even on one machine the
concepts are so powerful and unavoidable. The systems of windows and virtual
windows are realized in the background and managed by the window managers
and then to be pushed to the window server...
I can not imagine an alternative for any graphic user interface
applications.
Cheers
