As you know, I'm taking over the internet by updating my web page every day (almost). In the spirit of fair play, this week I'm listing other pages that are competing with me for total internet ownership. Check them out, weigh the pros and cons, and tell me I don't have the best daily-updated site on the internet!

| Sunday February 28, 1999 | Yahoo! - News | The news pages on Yahoo seem to get updated a few times every day. They sometimes have pictures too. You can bet they've never done a feature on spoons, though. That's why they're going to lose. |
| Monday March 1, 1999 | Slashdot | Slashdot is a site with mostly linux-related news and discussions. They have user polls, free advice, and lots of links. They are updated several times each day. I have yet to see tham do a feature on leg hair, however. That's why they're going to lose. |
| Tuesday March 2, 1999 | The Macintosh Resource Page | This site has Macintosh-related news and links. The guy also keeps track of the price of RAM and has a price graph that goes back more than a year. This page is only updated once a day on weekdays, but I sometimes don't update my page on weekends so he's not going to lose because of that. The reason that he's going to lose, and he is going to lose, is that there are no pictures of a rat in a shoe anywhere on his site. |
| Wednesday March 3, 1999 | Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Online | The web page of the main Milwaukee newspaper. I don't think their web site is all that great. They do have Wisconsin-related news, though and they recently started putting their editorial cartoons online. Of course they're not going to lose just because their webpage sucks. They'll lose because they've never had a feature on cool stuff you can buy at the swap shop. |

The Weather Channel Yahoo Weather |
Most decent weather sites get updated several times per day. Both of these have 4 day forecasts with nice little weather pictures. The trouble is that they're both predicting cold and snow for the rest of this week, which is just wrong. It is, in fact, going to be sunny and spring-like all week long. This inaccuracy pretty much dooms them to loosing the war of the web pages. |
| Friday March 5, 1999 | VeloNews | I'm actually not sure how often VeloNews gets updated, but they seem to have something new up every time I visit. They actually do have lots of bike news and bike pictures, which is definitely to their credit. If only they could answer the question: "Why do good people freak out and become stupid over the holidays?" they might stand a chance. |
| Saturday March 6, 1999 | Dilbert | The Dilbert page puts up a new strip every day. I think you can also look at all the strips from the last few months too. Unfortunately it Loads Really Slowly and never even mentions pipe cleaners. They certainly can't win like that. |
