This is the course website for CS 839, Differential Privacy and Learning, offered Spring 2026. This course will focus on the theory of differential privacy, the gold-standard framework for reasoning about privacy in data analysis.
By the end of the class, students will be prepared to conduct research in differentially private statistical inference and optimization.
For the Computer Sciences PhD breadth requirement, this class satisfies Band 4 (machine learning).
