Perl Corner
Perl is an excellent text-manipulation language, and is used as a dynamic page-generator on thousands of websites. Perl's creator, Larry Wall, is often found talking about how flexible it is and muttering eccentric quotes such as... Down that path lies madness. On the other hand, the road to hell is paved with melting snowballs. --Larry Wall I've used perl to create an extensible IRC bot, the LavaBot, for use on Linux's popular IRC client, X-Chat.

Note: LavaBot is no more. The steady evolution of Java and XChat has created incompatibilities in LavaBot and, since I have stopped using IRC and Linux, these incompatibilities will remain unfixed.
