Dear AiViet:
Hold your horses, and don't be so quick to surrender such a distinguished honor.
I have no intention of unseating you as eldest/most venerable and worthy member
of VNSA... I'm not 64. I'm still in my 30s. Won't say _where_ in my 30s
exactly, but still definitely in my 30s, with no plans to leave there
voluntarily.
On my actual birthday, when we got home from the restaurant, the Viet kids
living with me gave me my birthday card and an ice cream cake. The card read: "
Happy Birthday. It's that special time of the year when presents come down the
chimney, you get to blow out the candles on your eggs, and everyone sings
Valentines carols while you open your pumpkins." Inside, the card read: "What
the hell. You're old. You're confused. You don't know the difference anyway."
The kids who gave me the card still have limited English skills - I looked at
them, inquired softly if they'd understood it, got they sense they did not - but
you know, with these kids you can never ever be sure...
Ong Gia Pete
Happy Birthday, Pete.
It is proven that I am not the oldest in our list as somebody believed. However,
I must say that the old wine is always better than the young one.
Cheers
Aiviet
