Va^'n -de^` chi'nh ye^'u la` people usually marry those around them
(because they meet more of the people around them than people from
other countries, they can spend more time with each other, know more
about each other, have more in common, form the same social frabric),
they don't have to be of the same race, and the fact that Vietnamese
women marry those from other countries, even those of the same Vietnamese
race, is a sympton of the weakness of Vietnam as a country compare with
others. If I lament and condemn, it is not the Vietnamese women but
us, the Vietnamese men, who have had more to do with making the country
strong or weak.
