RE: China and VN

Buu Long made an excellent point. Globally, NEVER has VN
been so weak as at present, compared to other countries
in the region and the world. Never has it been in a
situation where it is poorer and 
technologically more backward than all its neighbours, save 
Cambodia and Laos, and behind most countries in the
world. What has saved VN so far is a delicate balance of 
world power - which won't last forever. In 50 years or
so, there is no country who can balance China's power
in this region - not even the USA.

Fancy footwork, rhetorics and the like may work once, twice, 
three times... but eventually our luck will run out, unless
VN take steps to rectify the situation.

VN must progress, must integrate into the world economy,
must leapfrog China, must become a Korea in the next 30 years.
Otherwise there is little hope for Vietnam. There is not
infinite time to play around.
