Writing the Script

After creating our storyboards, getting feedback from the class, and re-evaluating the storyboards ourselves, we began writing our script

First, we made some changes to "directions" scenario based on class input. Instead of BernE offering 3 different options right away, we decided to have BernE "default" to a simple description of the direction to travel, along with gestures indicating which way to go. After this, BernE offers to print a map if the user wants it.

We then chose a number of scenarios that we wanted to demonstrate in our video:

  • Knowing the name of an event, but not the room
  • Knowing the name of the room, but not where the room is
  • Interacting with a group
  • "Re-directing" a question that BernE can't answer

Ultimately, this was the model our video followed. We did combine the last two scenarios into one, but every behavior that we wanted to show was ultimately demonstrated.

In addition to the dialouge of the script, we also included ideas for the shot or shots that would go with a particular line. This made composing the film much easier during post-production
