  • Join the Top Hat section for your lecture

Top Hat is an online tool that allows me to collect answers to questions posed during lecture. In some cases, students will see the answers collected, in other cases the results will not be visible. Only students registered with Top Hat will be able to earn participation points for questions they answer during lecture. Students who do not join Top Hat will be able to complete their participation requirement via Piazza or by writing a paper. Be sure that you join the correct TopHat session for your lecture.

Join the Top Hat course and answer the questions posted during lecture throughout the semester. Students who register for their lecture will earn one participation point per 7.5% of questions asked. This means that students who answer 75% of the Top Hat questions posed will earn the maximum 10 points for class participation.

Note: each lecture has a different join code. See above or get the join code in lecture. Students will get the join code for their lecture in class. Be sure to bring a device for submitting your responses during lecture. Only responses submitted during lecture will count for participation credit.

It is Academic Misconduct to submit answers from somewhere other than lecture.
