What is a good question?

• Asks only one question per post.
• Asks something that can not be found in the assignment, course web site, or public forum.
• Includes exactly enough detail to answer the question without including solution.
• Is not "how do I debug my code" or "what is wrong with my code"?
  Helping students debug their code is done best in person during lab hours as most times we ask you "what happens when you try this?"

What is a good answer

Well, we don't actually want to train student to go to Piazza first. So, a good answer, may instead be suggestions for what to try or where to find a solution. We do want students to learn to use resources (but not other solutions) to solve the problems. We do want students to learn how to effectively use programming forums that other programmers use, like StackOverflow, Oracle, Git, Eclipse, Maven, CSL pages, our pages, etc.

• Gives guidance for how to find the answer without actually providing the answer.
• Explains a term or concept without giving away the answer to a problem.

We use Piazza for class discussion. The system is highly catered to getting you help fast and efficiently from classmates, the TA, and instructors. Rather than emailing questions to the teaching staff, post your questions on Piazza.
