. . . The Nips (originally called the Nipple Erectors) was the first band for future Pogues' vocalist
Shane MacGowan. Shane was always a fixture in the London punk scene from it's earliest days. You can see
him pogo dancing in the opening footage of "The Punk Rock Movie" in a union jack jacket. The Nips cut a few singles
(each one a totally different style from the last) and a full album. This song, "Gabrielle", is from October
of '79 and one of their best. Along with Shane in the Pogues was Phil Chevron, who begain in an Irish group called
The Radiators From Space . . .
