📗 UCB (Upper Confidence Bound) type algorithms have applications in large-scale crowd-sourcing, for example, the New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest, see Link for an example (KL-LUCB). Read about the contest: Link, and (1) make a submission yourself for this week's contest, and/or (2) look at a few other people's submissions and vote Link. Find a caption that you think is funny (yours or other people's) and share a screenshot on Piazza. You can find the list of past contest winners at Link. Note that winners get significantly more votes: the reason is that the captions they ask you to vote are selected by an multi-armed bandit algorithm, so in theory, you should find possibly unfunny captions (exploration) less often than funny captions (exploitation). Comment if you think that is the case on Piazza.
