Announcer: And now, Maya Angelou... for "Froot Loops".

Maya Angelou:
Toucan Sam, you leap on the back of the wind,
load stone to assorted fruit flavors,
Phoenix of the dawns, one smile.
We gave you, Toucan Sam, life!
You, Toucan Sam, give us loops of fruit. Fruity loops, Fruit Loopies,
swimming in the churning, frothy mother sea of milk,
Kellogg's appreciates consumer comments, P. O. Box 221, Battle Creek, Michigan,
a prism of fruity color,
a cornocopia of over forty fruity tastes.
The orange, the apple, the grape, the pomegrante, the quince, the kum-kwat, the kiwi, the planitain, the guava...

Announcer: This has been Maya Angelou... for "Froot Loops".permanent link

Radio, Radio
Found this excellent radio show the other day. Morning Becomes Eclectic is a show put out by KCRW a public radio station out of Santa Clara. Almost everyday the show features a live performance by various bands. You'll hear anything The Flaming Lips covering Kylie Minogue to Sigur Ros's first US radio appearence. They have archives back to 2000 (to see the whole list simply search for all shows of morning becomes eclectic). permanent link

Baseball in Minnesota
Tonight I went to my first Twins game of the year, unfortunately it may be my last, due to the looming strike that would prematurely end this years magnificent run by our Twins. On the bright side, we beat the Red Sox.
As much fun as it was to watch tonights victory I cant help but think how much more fun baseball in the Twin Cities would be in an outdoor stadium like the indispensible Parade Stadium nestled in near the heart of downtown next to the sculpture garden. If the Twins dodge contraction they may be able to play in an outdoor stadium like the one seen here at ballparks.com. Along with making a better experence for Minnesotans, professional outdoor baseball would be a great PR tool for the State itself; whose image is always associated with bitter cold everlasting winters. The fact of the matter is, Minnesota has 4 beautiful seasons and is especially enjoyable in baseball season. permanent link

Weekend in Chicago
It had been too long since I'd had the opportunity of goning down to visit folks in Chicago. So Evan Joe and I borrowed my folks' mini-van and swooped down to Illinois for the weekend. We had a great time, got to hang out with www.marcshapiro.org , www.singley.org, www.andydehnart.com as well as the yet to be purchased www.jeff-estrin.net and www.brian-schwartz.us. On Saturday we went to the Art Institute where we saw Mr.There-Is-Nothing-I-Cant-Paint Gerhard Richter show which everyone must see at some point, Gerhard Richter is more real than Chuck Close, more abstract than De Stael and more emotive than Monet. Gerhard Richter: 40 years of painting is nearly the finest art show i have ever seen. Then we hiked over to the MCA where we saw the Gursky exhibit which was quality as well. permanent link

Sweet!...?
Sweet is a word I like to use. I use it to express approval, for instance:
Joe:"Guess what, I got a job today"
Jordan: "Sweet!"

or

Evan: "Hey"
Jordan: "Hey"
Jordan: "Wha sup with you?"
Evan: "Wellstone is up by 7 points"
Jordan: "Sweet!"

or

Ben: "Yo dog"
Jordan: "eh"
Ben: "Yo, Echo just caught a bunny"
Jordan: "Sweet!" (there are too many bunnies in this city)

anyways, today I was wondering, if anyone has registered sweet.com so I typed it into my browser. To my suprise it points to my splash page?! I have no idea why sweet.com is pointed at my website. Of course I could be wrong, this doesn't make any sense, what happens when you guys go to sweet.com?

UPDATE: So I think Ive figured out why sweet.com goes to my splash page. When Im running IIS (microsofts web server) on this computer and I enter http://www.sweet.com into the browser it opens up the index page of my local web server which happens to be identical my www.cs.wisc.edu/~koidahl splash page. If I enter 127.0.0.1 into my browser I get the same page. Do any IIS gurus out there no why my local webserver thinks sweet.com is the local index page??permanent link
